Holocaust Unit impressions

Many of the Holocaust-related stories I learned about on Friday dealt with Holocaust survivors and what they are doing in their lives now. Since the Holocaust already took place a long time ago, many of the currently-living Holocaust survivors are trying their best to spread awareness of the Holocaust, to prevent something like it from happening again in the future. Along with this, they are also trying to show what happened in the Holocaust, to show that it isn't a "Jewish myth" but an event that destroyed the lives of people in many racial, political, and religious groups.

One interesting thing I learned is that many people who would be considered heroes today didn't gain anything from saving people, but did it anyways. One of my pier's articles, "Nicholas Winton, Rescuer of 669 children dies at 106" honors a person who I and many other people never heard of.  In the article, I learned that he saved hundreds of children, but was forced by law to keep quiet about his heroic actions. Sadly, the Holocaust was a prime example of people warping fact and justice for their political agenda.
